Our Story

How it all started...

Our mission is to build lives of Love, Hope and Joy on the foundation of Jesus Christ and we thank you for your consideration in joining us on this journey. As the pastor of CVC for the last 6 years I would like to share with you a brief history of our church starting with the word in our mission statement, build. Oftentimes, when we think of building something it's a structure that stands still or a device that operates mechanically. But what we mean by build is relative to the lives of people, men, women, boys and girls of all ages and ethnicities and that is a reflection in the diversity of our church. We have approximately 13 nationalities in our church and our membership ranges from ages 3 to 92.

When building lives, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the growth and development that happens which is why unlike a structure these lives are moving, living, human beings that all need love, hope and joy. These lives that are built are also not robotic nor redundant but they are resilient and very real people who have real problems that we want to help them resolve. Problems ranging from mental, emotional and spiritual trauma that hinders them from becoming productive and progressive members of our society. We take the time to cover important areas such as mental health by facilitating panel discussions, resources and professionals that can help in these areas. We recognize May as mental health awareness month along with other months that are very symbolic of abuse prevention and suicide prevention. We encourage an expression of our youth and children by giving them a separate Church dwelling space that caters to their age appropriate needs with qualified and vetted teachers who are committed to their well-being. This is done every Sunday and during special events that we host and invite the community in to participate. We also connect with organizations such as the Epilepsy Foundation Epic, South Shore Children's Guidance Center, Martin Luther King Center of Long beach, and Bethany house to mention a few, to ensure that we are not only reaching out to support these organizations but sending volunteers to help in time of need.
This year we are collaborating with the 3D Community Center Aftercare program which facilitates over 80 children in a rich learning environment. They are far from a daycare but instead they’re a developmental program to help children become stable so they can learn and grow through the programs that Dr Zordelia Williams has so successfully implemented. This program was the focus of our annual Family Fun Day picnic and Fundraiser in Baldwin Harbor Park in 2024. We hope that you can make it out to see the lives that are being changed and transformed.

Our church is not unfamiliar to adversity as we have also gone through the covid pandemic as most other businesses and nonprofit organizations. It was a difficult journey for many and some did not survive but Cornerstone Victory Church not only survived but thrived through this season.

Expanding the vision...

Our goal is to build a facility that will nourish the soul, shape the mind and prepare the body for a purpose filled life that God can guide and bless others through. We also want to change the trajectory of our health by presenting Victory Corner Cafe to the community as a healthier option to have great food centered around fellowship and building relationships. This has already started as every Sunday morning Victory Corner Cafe is open at 9:45 a.m. to serve our congregants with fresh vegetable and fruit juices, healthy alternative breakfast options and great coffee with healthy sweeteners. For decades and perhaps even centuries the church at large has been plagued with poor food choices and unhealthy members who suffer with unnecessary illnesses, but not at Cornerstone victory church. Not only have we begun the change but we have living examples of people who have improved their physical health spilling into their mental and emotional health and for this we are grateful.

Where we are headed...

We believe the time has come to establish a permanent home for our church.
A building is so much more than brick and mortar. It is a sanctuary where families will worship for generations, classrooms where our children’s faith will take root, and a beacon of hope where the broken in our community will find restoration. It is a home for our mission to build lives of love hope and joy on the foundation of Jesus Christ.

Be a part of our story...

Join us every Sunday as we gather to worship together at 11 am.
